Environmental operation ends with eight guns seized in Coast



Action was triggered in the municipalities of Guaratuba, Paranaguá and Morretes. Even a frozen armadillo was found by police.

Eight firearms were seized by the Coast state Environmental Police Battalion, last weekend. The armament was collected during Operation Caápua, which had taken steps in the municipalities of Guaratuba, Morretes and Paranaguá.

The first stage of police work was performed in the National Park Saint Hillaire Lange in Paranaguá. Were located and seized three firearms: one in the possession of the owner of a shop, and two, in the homes of residents. According to police, two people were arrested for illegal possession.

In Morretes, were seized a shotgun 28 gauge with ten caliber ammunition and a 36. The materials were sent to the city police, who initiated the police investigation to extend the investigation and ascertain the facts.

In Guaratuba, the police found three weapons in the region of the border between the states of Paraná and Santa Catarina. We seized a shotgun and a .32 caliber craftsmanship, and a 22 caliber revolver. At one site in the region, we found a frozen armadillo. The property owner was fined for illegal possession and hunt animals for the Brazilian fauna.

According to Lt. John Alves da Rosa Neto, the aim of the operation is to protect wildlife fauna Parana, especially those who are at risk of extinction. The operation was triggered from complaints received by Environmental Police.
